2025 - We launched a fundraiser to help a rural school in urgent need of a new roof
In 2025 we started a fundraiser to help a rural school build a new roof. The current roof has many holes in it and when the rain comes the school floods with water and that also brings mud in to the school. You can see by the pictures that the school is ruined inside. The children cannot go to school when it rains.
The school has a roll call of approximately 70 children.
We met our fundraising target of £2000.

2023 - Street Lights

Hosty, co-founder of TSHF, worked alongside a local team to install five street lights in Petite Rivière. Funded jointly by The Scottish Haitian Foundation and Hosty Robenson, this project is helping bring light, safety and progress to the local community.
2022 - CCTV Training for Joe
Joe, the first child we supported with school fees and accommodation, took part in a security camera installation training course during the 2022 school holidays. Here, he was already putting those new skills into practice and beginning to earn money on his very first job alongside Hosty.
His course tutor was highly impressed by Joe’s ability to learn quickly and pick up new skills. Stories like Joe’s were at the heart of our vision: to see young people lifted out of poverty through education, opportunity and training.
2019 - The First Package Sent to Haiti
from Scotland
In 2019, we packaged an outboard engine and various supplies in Scotland to send to Haiti. This was the first time we had attempted something like this. However, we soon realised that it was not an effective way to support people in Haiti.
The package took six months to arrive and cost over £500 to send. After reflecting on this, we decided that the money would be far better used in Haiti itself. By spending the funds locally, we could not only purchase the same items but also support local businesses and the wider community.
We found that many items in Scotland are priced similarly to those available in Haiti. This experience taught us that shipping supplies internationally was not the best use of our resources, and that investing the money directly in Haiti was a more effective way to help.
2019 Fern Visits Haiti
In 2019 our daughter Fern had just finished her degree in Marine Biology and wanted to be part of a conservation effort somewhere in the world. She discovered an opportunity in Haiti to work with an ocean project that was saving the lives of sea turtles and educating local communities about conservation.
Fern went to Haiti for four months and also enjoyed helping Hosty teach English to children in the community. I loved hearing her stories and adventures about helping and looking after the sea turtles. The animals had lots of character and could move surprisingly quickly.
